Storyteller, designer, researcher, and developer blending art and technology to build expressive systems including creativity support tools, lighting & projections, and interactive visuals.
I’m Siddharth Chattoraj, a visual storyteller and creative technologist who designs accessible creativity support tools for interactive storytelling. My work blends art, design, and computation across creative coding, data visualization, live performance, and wearable technology. I authored p5.chart.js, the first published data visualization library for p5.js, and Pattern Illustrator, a drawing and animation tool that helps beginner computer artists translate ideas into visual forms. I have designed projections and lighting for concerts around the world, including Gilgamesh: The Opera in Cerritos, TrollFest in Juneau, and the UCSB Dance Company’s European tour. I have presented data-driven research and installations at conferences across Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. My newest work, a pair of LED-integrated costumes that empower dancers and designers to author the visual aesthetic of performance in real time, will be presented and published at ACM SIGGRAPH in 2026.
I hold a B.S. in Statistics and Data Science, a B.A. in Theater (Design), and a minor in Language and Speech Technologies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I graduated with Highest Honors and Distinction in Major. Across my work, I investigate how creative technology can amplify underrepresented ideas and voices through interactive systems, embodied media, and public-facing storytelling tools.
