I designed the lighting for Bodies of Art, a dance work choreographed, directed, projection designed, and produced by Carly Armitage that traces the human impulse to create through visual art movements and choreographic styles. The design shaped each section’s relationship to art history, from intimate sculptural side light to saturated stage pictures, using contrast, shadow, and color to frame the dancers as both performers and living artworks. Across the piece, I used lighting to support the work’s central question of what forms we are willing to recognize as art, turning movement into a shifting gallery of bodies, texture, and visual composition.
