Projection Design Portfolio
Trollfest
I assistant projection designed (with projection designer Greg Mitchell) the concert "Trollfest" in Juneau which featured The Heists, Whiskey Class, and Ray Troll and the Ratfish Wranglers in their final concert in Centennial Hall (three interconnected ballrooms). I designed all auxillary media (wall projections, image maginifications (IMAG), and side tree projections), and I created projections for a third of the Ratfish Wranglers main set by animating Ray Troll's art. We mapped 4 7.5K laser projectors (set on scaffolding) and 1 hanging center projector to build the display for the main screen. I controlled two hanging projectors for wall projections and two hanging projectors for image magnification, for a total of nine projectors and 11 video feeds (double for the IMAG). I used Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and QLab to design the projections.
UCSB Dance Company
I projection designed the UCSB Dance Company's performances in Santa Barbara and on their European Tour, which featured 7 pieces choreographed by faculty and guest artists. The tour included performances in Santa Barbara, CA; Barcelona, Spain; Nowy Sącz, Poland; Tarnow, Poland; Sofia, Bulgaria; and 2 performances in Skopje, Macedonia. I used Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Few-Shot Machine Learning Techniques, p5.js, Three.js, and QLab to design the projections. 5 of the 7 pieces projections, and I also designed a short film — focusing on dance as protest around the world — that played before the second piece.
The Threepenny Opera
I projection designed the play The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht and directed by Annie Torsiglieri. I designed a live projection system, where the actors would storm in, bring in 1 7.5K laser projector on a rolling cart, and film the scene with a camcorder. The video feed was displayed live as a newscast. I used Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and QLab to design the projections.
Kinetic Lab: Moonlight Symphony
I projection designed "Moonlight Symphony", a Sailor Moon-inspired dance choreographed by Milana Beck for the Kinetic Lab concert directed by Christina McCarthy. I used Adobe After Effects, p5.js, Three.js, and QLab to design the projections and implemented them using two stacked 10K projectors.
Indecent
I assistant projection designed the play Indecent by Paula Vogel which was directed by Sara Rademacher and projection designed by Elijah Frankle. I used Adobe After Effects and QLab to design the projections and implemented them with four 7.5K laser projectors — two on house left and two on house right.
Celestial Existence
I designed the short film "Celestial Existence" made of generative visuals surrounding the concept that progress arises from consistent imagination, transition, and evolution, and introspection is the heart of creativity. I used TouchDesigner and p5.js to design the media, and I used Blender to edit the film and the music.
